Discover Our Impact: Showcasing the African NFT Community’s Milestones
Welcome to our journalism section, where we offer a comprehensive look at the African NFT Community’s (ANC) ground-breaking work and its significant impact on the digital art world.
Paradise Womens Exhibition
Paradise, the African NFT Community’s inaugural exhibition, launched on March 4, 2022, celebrating Women’s History Month. Curated by Abieyuwa, the collection brought together the work of 22 Black women from diverse regions across Africa and the African diaspora.
The exhibition explored the theme of paradise as conceptualized across different cultures, showcasing each artist's unique visual representation of what paradise means to them. This landmark exhibition not only highlighted the immense talent of African women but also served as a powerful reflection of their creative vision within the NFT space.
The Gateway Miami Exhibit
The Gateway is a groundbreaking 5-day Web3 arts and culture festival, presented by NFT Now and Mana Common, that spanned two city blocks and 12 buildings. Attended by members of the African NFT Community and the diaspora, it provided a global platform for 50 African acts to showcase, sell, and discuss their work with an international audience. The event was curated by the ANC operations team, further demonstrating the community’s commitment to elevating African artists in the Web3 space.
Distant Relatives: Released October 15, 2022
In Distant Relatives: we celebrate the rich tapestry of African culture through the lens of 10 diverse artists, each representing a unique region of the African continent. This collective, curated by Vintagemozart, brings together artists from different nations and disciplines, united by a shared heritage and a commitment to preserving their cultural legacy on the blockchain.
This groundbreaking project illustrates how culture, deeply rooted in our history and traditions, transcends geographical boundaries. Each artist's work is a testament to the vibrant and varied artistic expressions found across Africa, demonstrating that without the preservation of culture and the freedom it fosters, even the most perfect society is merely a jungle.
Through this exhibition, we explore how these creative expressions serve as invaluable gifts to the future, enriching the global art scene while honouring the past. Discover the stories, inspirations, and unique contributions of these artists as they connect with their roots and each other, creating a powerful narrative of cultural preservation and innovation.
